Fintech startup and AWS Partner Personetics offers data-driven personalization for financial services. By using artificial intelligence-powered technology to analyze financial data, Personetics examines individuals’ financial behaviors in real-time, anticipating their needs and acting on their behalf.
The company recently conducted an AWS Well-Architected Review as it extended its product offering from an on-premises model to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) delivery model as well.
Personetics is an award-winning data-driven personalization and customer engagement platform. It helps banks quickly and seamlessly boost customer engagement and business impact by delivering AI-powered models, codeless editing tools, rich, personalized insights, advice, and automated financial wellness programs.
With the on-premises model’s functionality, we launched Personetics’ SaaS delivery model to offer clients a more secure, lower cost, and no maintenance solution with a faster time-to-market.
Adding a SaaS model required product changes and enablement of robust operations and security standards. The product added Kubernetes support, was broken into microservices, and included feature improvements to ensure scalability and a robust model.
Benefits of the AWS Well-Architected Review
To launch our SaaS delivery model, we had a long road ahead of us and wanted to ensure we were headed in the right direction before completing our full operational model.
Personetics decided to conduct an AWS Well-Architected Review to benchmark our processes against best practices. To conduct the review, we selected CloudZone, an AWS Premier Partner and AWS Well-Architected Partner.
The AWS Well-Architected Review examines whether a company’s SaaS offering complies with the five pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework. It was important to us the review provide actionable feedback that we could incorporate into our internal goals and add to our product and operational roadmaps.
The Well-Architected Review’s value exceeded our expectations. We found we could refine our approach and address action items much faster. By utilizing the additional DevOps resources through our AWS Well-Architected Partner, Cloudzone, Personetics ended up with a stronger, more reliable service, and we accelerated time to market by months.
Here are the key ways that conducting a timely AWS Well-Architected Review positioned our product for success.
- Well-Architected is a smart, simple, and valuable process: The five pillars—operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization—are organized in a structured and detailed framework. The pillar structure provided us with a comprehensive view of our readiness, and we were able to uncover weak spots and address them.
- Achieving requirements for compliance: By drawing our attention toward compliance processes, the AWS Well-Architected Review shortened our SaaS product’s delivery timeline and helped us prepare for SOC2 certification.

I can undoubtedly say the AWS Well-Architected Review is a valuable way for customers and AWS Partners to build stronger SaaS products.
Conducting the review early in the delivery phase enabled Personetics to deliver a highly-secured, production-ready offering in less than six months. It also expedited our SOC2 certification process, and I’m delighted that we successfully passed our first SOC2 Type II audit review.
